FAQ Answers

1.  WHY CAN'T I LOGIN?

When this happens, the problem almost always has to do with either the browser configuration or security software (firewall). Try resetting your security software or browser configuration to enable/accept "cookies."

The website keeps track of users by saving small, temporary files to your computer called "cookies." These "session" cookie files are deleted from the computer when the browser is closed and the browser session is completed. But web browsers like Internet Explorer realize that some users are exceptionally security conscious and wish to disable cookies, or prevent them from being saved on the user's computer.

Enable Cookies In Security Software

  1. Launch your privacy or firewall software.
  2. Navigate to the section with cookie controls.
  3. Choose to accept cookies.

Enable Cookies in IE 6
  1. Open Internet Explorer.
  2. From the Tools menu select "Internet options".
  3. Select the Privacy tab.
  4. Make sure the slider is NOT on "Block All Cookies".
  5. Click the "Advanced" button.
  6. Check "Override Cookie Handling".
  7. Check "Always Allow Session Cookies".
  8. Click "OK" twice

Enable Cookies in Mozilla Firefox
  1. Open Mozilla Firefox.
  2. From the Tools menu, select "Options".
  3. Click the Privacy icon.
  4. Click the + sign to expand the Cookies section.
  5. Select the "Allow sites to set cookies" option.
  6. Click "OK".

2.  On the Standings page, what is the number in parentheses next to my score?

This is your tiebreaker score, and the closer to the actual average speed of the race, the better. This number represents how far off you were from predicting the average speed of the race.

On the cumulative standings page, the number in parentheses is your cumulative tiebreaker score for the year, meaning we've added up how far off you were from predicting the average speed of all the races. The closer you are to the actual summed average speed of all the races, the better.

Example:
Player A predicts an avg. speed of 100.999 mph for round 1
Actual speed for round 1: 122.987
Tiebreaker score for round 1: abs(122.987 - 100.999) = 21.988
Tiebreaker score for cumulative: sum(round 1 tb score + round 2 tb score + .... + last round tb score)

If a player fails to pick and the team is generated for that person, the tiebreaker score is automatically the average speed of the race (i.e., the worst number it could be).

3.  What constitutes a "Round"?

A Round is any week where there is a point-earning race that weekend. Normally, each week will be a new round, except for certain weekends that do not have point-earning races. For a complete schedule of all the rounds, please refer to the Official Rules.

4.  What is the "You have XX value points remaining" Counter on the "Play" page?

That is your current tally of available value points to use when selecting one driver from each of the five groups. The contest will not allow you to bring the current Value Point meter below 0. Each driver in each of the 5 groups is assigned a "value" and you must stay under 23 points while selecting your drivers.

5.  What happens if I forget to pick my team?

If in any given regular season round you forget to make your picks, you will be given all the 1 Value Point drivers in each group (the lowest seeded driver of each group).

During the Championship Challenge rounds (during the Chase), we do not give you drivers if you forget to make your picks.

6.  What's the difference between the green, yellow and red colors in the ratings?

The rating image is a kind of meter. The redder colors mean that the driver rated lower in that area than the rest of the field. As his rating improves, the meter slowly moves from red to green. The highest rating would have all the lights (and all three greens) illuminated.

7.  How often do you rate the drivers?

The drivers are rated each week in accordance with how they are performing throughout the year and to adjust for injuries. Drivers will move from one group to another to reflect their current performance.

8.  What do the colors mean next to each driver under "Ratings"?

Each driver is rated according to three categories: "Driver" is a measure of that driver's individual skill, "Team" reflects the quality of the Pit Crew and Ownership, as well as the quality of the race cars, "Track" is how well that driver performs on the type of track they are racing on in that round.
